Couldn't make it thru the whole stream last night Ray, had to be up early! But I'm swinging back this morning to watch the rest of it, wouldn't miss it on the replay for the world 👍 Just wanna say at 2:08:17 etc, those aerial views of Brighton... my god my heart is so full, looking at of all the Ren landmarks you can ID from watching his videos a million times... the surreal old West Pier that's the dystopian background to his live video of MG2... the new Palace Pier where his Right Here Right Now retake was filmed... the promenade that's the "destination" of his minstrel stroll in Genesis & parts of Losing It, with the upside-down house art installation where he busked with Liv, and more recently, Ruby J... I keep searching for the church spire of St Paul's where he filmed so many INCREDIBLE busking videos in front of (should be between the Brighton tower/active pier and the deteriorating 19th century Victorian era pier, one or two streets off the beach)... and not that you'd see it from an aerial view of the city, but Jackalope, the store Ren & Vik & the other friend walk out of in the intro to What You Want, is "just down the street" a bunch from Palace Pier and the tower, well inland. No clue where the flat is (always felt too stalkerish to think of tracking it down out of curiosity for the role it plays in "the Reniverse" through his videos, because it's where he & Gorran & Romain lived), or where Jenny/Screech/Violet were filmed, or the busking spot where they filmed Red Suspenders Ren Day's busking as well as their last ever busking appearance; and none of those would be distinguishable from the aerial shots either, of course. Ren telling us about that alarming (but totally understandable imo) incidence of self-harm makes me wonder if it's the aftermath of smashing the TV that he was referring to when wrote the lyrics "These drugs don't work/The pain it takes control/A blood-stained shirt/I feel like I'm always being chased by the devil" in Blind Eyed. That always stuck out to me as a line I couldn't figure out where it had come from; I assumed it must be a metaphor at first, because there was no indication that Ren was a scrapper... later when I heard him talk about seeing blood when he threw up while he was recording at Sony, I wondered if it was that kind of situation (whether at Sony or whether it was happening elsewhere too). But now, I wonder if it wasn't the memory of the "self harm in a public space" (even if no one was there to witness it) that inspired the line. ... watching Ray enjoy Hold On on stream on my laptop, listening to Ren's lyrics from so many years ago, with my phone beside me playing Troubles on mute, on repeat, to do what I can to bump up the UA-cam views for it. Incredible to listen to his voice describe the depths of the anguish he was going, through while watching a video off to the side where I'm seeing his mouth form the words that describe how he's clawed his way back to a more livable life in 2024. I so hope the severity/frequency of the symptoms he still experiences, can manage to be lessened even more (or be cured of course!)

I really enjoyed being able to walk through the journey with you and everyone in the live chat. Ren is a master storyteller. It’s unreal what Ren went through and yet maintained his humanity and kindness. He’s not only crazy talented and creative, but he’s an inspiration on every level.
